Smart Filtration. Superior Performance.

Pressure Sand Filter (PSF)

The Pressure Sand Filter (PSF) from Rain Power Filtration is a robust, high-capacity filtration unit designed to remove suspended solids, turbidity, and fine particulates from raw water. Built in SS, MS, and FRP, it is available in both manual and automatic operation, making it perfect for pre-treatment in RO, STP, ETP, and industrial processes.

Specifications

  • Flow Rate: 500 LPH to 200,000 LPH
  • Operating Pressure: 2.5 – 5 kg/cm²
  • Filter Media: Coarse Gravel + Graded Quartz Sand / Pebbles
  • Inlet TSS Tolerance: Up to 50–100 ppm
  • Backwash: Required periodically (manual or auto-controlled)
  • Connection: Flanged / Threaded / Victaulic (as required)

Material of Construction (MOC)

OptionDetails
FRPLightweight, non-corrosive, ideal for small to mid-size systems
MS (Painted)Heavy-duty fabricated tank with epoxy coating
MS + FRP LiningCost-effective, corrosion-resistant combo
SS 304 / SS 316Hygienic, corrosion-proof, long-life industrial solution

Operation Type

  • Manual: Ball / butterfly valves operated by user
  • Automatic: Multi-port valve or PLC-based solenoid valve control
  • Backwash initiated by timer or differential pressure (in auto units)

Working Process

  1. Raw water enters the PSF through the inlet nozzle.
  2. It passes downward through layers of coarse and fine sand media.
  3. Suspended solids and turbidity are retained in the media bed.
  4. Filtered water exits from the outlet nozzle, typically at the bottom.
  5. Periodically, backwash is performed using filtered water in reverse direction to flush out trapped solids.

Applications

  • Pre-treatment before RO, DM, UF, or EDI systems
  • STP and ETP inlet clarification
  • Cooling tower make-up water filtration
  • Drinking water plants and mineral water units
  • Textile, paper, pharma, chemical industries

Product Highlights

  • High removal efficiency of turbidity and solids
  • Rugged and durable vessel construction
  • Quick installation with compact skid integration
  • Available in vertical and horizontal designs
  • Easy to maintain with optional auto backwash
  • Custom-designed based on flow, load, and application
